The Drone Company review & service guide

Construction & creative capture

Based on published provider information. We have not commissioned or tested this service.

The assessment in brief

Who should consider The Drone Company?

The Drone Company is worth shortlisting when a project needs both technical aerial information and material that will be used in a film, campaign or stakeholder update. Its published services connect construction surveys, repeat progress capture, timelapse and aerial production. Our assessment is that this combination is especially relevant to developers and agencies coordinating several outputs. Buyers should commission those outputs separately: a cinematic sequence, a condition inspection and a measured survey have different specifications and acceptance criteria.

Strengths to consider

  • Construction data and creative filming in one published service range.
  • Repeat progress reporting and long-term timelapse options.
  • A structured FlightCheck route for starting a project brief.

What to check

  • Specify survey accuracy and processing separately from visual documentation.
  • Confirm the selected crew, camera system and location arrangements.
  • Agree editing, usage rights and repeat-visit terms before commissioning.

Construction surveys and progress records

The construction service describes recurring progress reports, roof and façade inspections, and topographical mapping. Advertised mapping outputs include georeferenced orthomosaics, elevation information and terrain models. It also offers milestone filming and dedicated timelapse systems, giving buyers several ways to record the same development.

Decide who will use each output before asking for a proposal. A board update may need a short edited film; an earthworks contractor may need a specified surface dataset. For repeated visits, ask how positions, framing and survey control will remain consistent, and how revisions to the site boundary will be handled.

Filming and agency work

The main site advertises heavy-lift, Inspire 3 and FPV filming systems. Its agency offering includes campaign footage, brand films, aerial stills and creative input during pre-production. This makes the business relevant to briefs where the aerial unit must contribute to a wider production rather than simply supply an overhead establishing shot.

Send reference footage and a shot list alongside the location. Specify delivery resolution, frame rates, aspect ratios and whether footage must match another camera. Clarify whether the appointment covers an aerial crew, a finished edit or both. A technically successful flight does not by itself deliver a completed campaign asset.

How to scope a mixed project

FlightCheck groups enquiries by film and television, construction, FPV, photography and CGI. Treat that as a starting structure for the brief. For a mixed construction assignment, attach separate deliverables for the technical team and marketing team so their requirements do not become blurred within one general request for drone footage.

Ask for a named project contact, a capture schedule and an example of the proposed handover. For a long programme, agree what happens when a milestone moves or weather prevents a visit. Include retention of original footage and survey files in the contract, particularly when several consultants will need access after construction finishes.

Pricing & getting a quotation

Start with FlightCheck or request a scoped proposal. Compare the full project cost: mobilisation, flight planning, capture, processing, editing and any repeat visits. A survey-and-film package should show what is included for each output. For timelapse, establish the camera period, maintenance, hosting and final-edit charges. The published service range does not establish a single comparable price for all projects.

For a consistent comparison, use our drone service cost guide and buyer’s checklist.

Questions to ask The Drone Company

  1. Which survey tolerances, coordinate system and checks will apply to our technical deliverables?
  2. Can the same visit satisfy our survey brief and shot list, or are separate capture sessions needed?
  3. Who owns the original files, and what editing, storage and repeat visits are included?
